Product variants
Spectrum S-Flex 98A is a flexible filament based on thermoplastic polyether polyurethane (TPU) with a Shore A hardness of 98. It combines flexibility, high impact toughness and easier printing compared to softer elastomers.
Key features
The material belongs to the harder flexible materials, making it compatible with most printers with Bowden as well as direct drive extruders. It features very high resistance to hydrolysis (degradation caused by moisture) and resistance to many common industrial oils and chemicals. Elongation at break reaches up to 510%, which makes it possible to print parts that absorb mechanical energy, dampen vibrations or protect surfaces exposed to impact. Low processing shrinkage minimizes the risk of edge warping and very good first layer adhesion ensures reliable print progress on glass, steel, plastic and other build surfaces. More about flexible materials can be found in the categories flexible filaments and TPU.

Who is the Spectrum S-Flex 98A 1.75mm 0.5kg filament suitable for
The material is intended for users who need a flexible part with higher stiffness and mechanical durability. It is used in the production of damping and spring elements, bumpers, edge protectors, protective cases, seals with high chemical resistance, snap-fit parts, hinges, sleeves, flexible spacers, high-strength belts and covers for machine and modelling applications. Thanks to its 98 Shore A hardness, the material is compatible with most printers with Bowden as well as direct drive extruders, which is often not possible with softer TPU materials.
Usage tips
- Dry the material before printing at 60 °C for 6-8 hours - TPU is hygroscopic and moisture causes bubbles and deterioration of mechanical properties.
- Print at lower speeds (20-40 mm/s) to avoid mechanical stress on the filament in the feeder.
- Use short and slow retraction; with a direct drive extruder it can be turned off completely.
- Check the filament path - it should not contain places where the flexible material could bend outside the guide tube.
- The bed does not need to be heated to a high temperature, the material adheres well even at low heat; for better adhesion use a glue stick or a textured build plate.
- Store opened filament in a sealed container with desiccant.
