Bambu Lab PLA Silk+ is a premium filament with a silky to chrome-like gloss that combines an attractive appearance with above-standard mechanical strength. Thanks to the improved formula, it offers higher layer adhesion than common silk PLA, so you get glossy prints without compromising on strength.

Key features

PLA Silk+ from Bambu Lab is based on PLA enriched with additives to achieve the characteristic silky surface. The material excels with easy printability, low tendency to warp and a stable diameter of 1.75 mm with a tolerance of +/- 0.03 mm. Compared to common silk variants, it has significantly better interlayer cohesion, higher resistance to bending and impact. The spool is equipped with an RFID chip, so the AMS system automatically recognizes it and loads the preset print parameters.

This material is suitable for decorative prints, figurines, vases, design items, gifts, jewelry or models where a silky or metallic appearance is required without the need for subsequent surface treatment. Thanks to the improved layer adhesion, it can also be used where common silk PLA fails - that is, for functional parts, holders and components exposed to mechanical stress. The filament is optimized for Bambu Lab printers and the AMS system, but is fully usable in other FDM printers supporting printing from PLA materials.

Usage tips

  • For maximum surface gloss, reduce the outer wall print speed to 50 mm/s.
  • Always dry the filament before printing at 55 °C for 8 hours (on X1 heatbed: 65-75 °C / 12 h).
  • Store in a sealed package with a moisture absorber or directly in the AMS.
  • For top layers, use a concentric infill pattern (Concentric) - it enhances the silky effect.
  • Use a hardened steel nozzle of 0.4 mm or larger for optimal quality.
  • Recommended adhesion layer: Bambu Liquid Glue on a PEI build plate.
  • The Cool Plate SuperTack build plate is not recommended.
  • Re-dry the filament before any long-term storage.
