Toolchanger for up to 5 print heads

The heart of the printer is a unique mechanical tool changer that swaps between up to five print heads in the blink of an eye. Each head has its own filament preloaded and ready in the nozzle, eliminating the lengthy material change procedure typical of single-nozzle multi-material systems. You can load five 2kg spools into the XL at once and print a model of up to 10 kg without a single intervention.

Waste-free printing and smart material combinations

While conventional single-nozzle multi-material printers often produce up to four times more waste than the print itself, the XL prints practically waste-free thanks to its independent heads. Combine, for example, flexible TPU with PETG and use PLA as easily removable supports. For expensive technical materials such as PC-CF, you can use a cheaper filament for the supports and significantly reduce costs.

Segmented heated bed

The print sheet is divided into 16 individually controlled tiles with their own base plate. This solution compensates for the thermal deformation common on printers with a single large heated bed and ensures a perfect first layer across the entire surface. Unused tiles turn off automatically to save energy - if you print a small part in the middle, the rest of the bed stays cool.

Input Shaper and Pressure Advance for fast printing

Native implementation of Input Shaper and Pressure Advance brings a huge increase in print speed without loss of quality. The XL is thus the fastest multi-material desktop printer on the market and produces complex prints in record times. Combined with Phase Stepping technology, which precisely measures the motor response characteristics and adjusts their control signal, the printer also runs exceptionally quietly.

Loadcell sensor and perfect first layer

Forget manual fine-tuning of the nozzle-to-bed distance - no screws, no software offsets. The Loadcell sensor in the Nextruder measures pressure directly at the tip of the nozzle and works flawlessly on reflective as well as textured surfaces. The result is always a perfect first layer anywhere across the entire 360×360 mm surface.

Compatibility with technical materials

The direct-drive Nextruder can handle virtually any 1.75mm filament - from PLA and PETG, through ASA, ABS, Nylon, up to polycarbonate and carbon-fiber filaments. It also handles flexible filaments effortlessly thanks to direct feeding. For materials prone to thermal shock, the Original Prusa Enclosure is optionally available.

Spool Join and uninterrupted printing

The Spool Join feature automatically switches to the next spool when the current one runs out. Ideal for using up spool leftovers or for starting massive projects - load five 2kg spools of the same material and print a 10kg model without operator intervention. Filament jam detection and power-loss recovery are a matter of course.

Wi-Fi, Prusa Connect and touchscreen display

The XL offers both wired and Wi-Fi connectivity and integration with the secure Prusa Connect system - simply drag a G-code into your browser and you'll be printing within seconds. Prusa Connect supports job scheduling and remote monitoring via webcam. The color touchscreen LCD, which can also be operated with a physical knob, offers G-code previews, QR codes and a Cancel Object function. For offline use, the printer works entirely without limitations.
