Waste-Free Printing
A 3D printer is just the beginning – you’ll need one filament spool after another… Luckily, the Original Prusa XL is designed to help reduce operational costs by minimizing waste during printing!
Single-extruder printers must clean the nozzle every time they switch colors or materials. On many printers, this can generate up to four times more filament waste than the weight of the actual print.
The XL is engineered from the ground up to print multiple materials efficiently, at high speed, and with little-to-no waste. While a small purge tower may still be needed for pressure stabilization during normal printing, with properly dried filaments and the option to purge into the object’s infill, the XL can print completely waste-free! No purge towers, no filament strings left around the printer.

Combine Materials
With multiple tool heads, you can load several materials at once and easily combine them during a single print. For example, you could print Flex with PETG and use PLA as easily removable supports.
If your project requires advanced or expensive materials, such as PCCF, you can use cheaper materials for supports, helping to reduce overall costs.

The Fastest Multi-Material 3D Printer
If you want to print with multiple colors or materials at the same time, the Original Prusa XL with its fast toolchangerand technologies like Input Shaper and Pressure Advance can do it faster than any competitor—all while maintaining the same high-quality output as the acclaimed Original Prusa MK4.

XL Tool Changer
The Toolchanger is the heart of the Original Prusa XL. It allows you to have up to five materials ready, enabling you to print multi-material objects faster than ever before. Since the filaments are already loaded directly into the extruders, you eliminate the need for the long and tedious filament change process.
The Toolchanger swaps print heads in an instant, and thanks to optimized mechanical design, its reliability is unmatched. You can prepare up to five 2 kg spools at once and print a 10 kg object without ever touching the printer.

Spool Join – Print Without Interruption!
Spool Join is a feature that automatically switches to the next spool when the current one runs out during printing. It's perfect for using up "almost empty" spools, but it’s also ideal for massive, uninterrupted projects.
Simply load the printer with up to five 2 kg spools, enable Spool Join, and you can produce a 10 kg model without a single user intervention.

Exceptional Print Quality and Reliability
Printing fast but poorly is useless – fortunately, the Original Prusa XL maintains top-tier print quality across the entire build plate while handling multi-material printing much faster than any other desktop printer on the market.
The Nextruder delivers outstanding performance, even on extremely steep overhangs up to 15°, and handles flexible filaments with ease. Its excellent precision ensures that printed parts fit together perfectly, giving you reliable and professional results every time.

High-Speed Printing
When you need to finish a project quickly, produce a prototype, or deliver a larger number of prints on time, speed really matters. The Original Prusa XL leverages native implementation of Input Shaper and Pressure Advance, delivering a massive increase in print speed without sacrificing print quality.
The XL model is confidently the fastest multi-material desktop printer on the market, capable of producing beautiful, complex prints in record time.

Large and Precise
Achieve unparalleled precision with the Original Prusa XL! The print profiles are finely tuned so you can design highly accurate parts with 0.2 mm precision. When your design requires a specific component—like an M3 screw—you can trust the XL to deliver the accuracy you need.

Quiet and Pleasant
Equipped with Phase Stepping technology, the Original Prusa XL precisely measures the response characteristics of its motors and automatically adjusts their control signals to ensure the quietest possible operation. In simple terms: the XL is fast but also pleasantly quiet, so you can leave it printing next to your desk without being disturbed. And if you want it even quieter, you can enable Stealth Mode for an extra level of silence!

Easy to Use
Thanks to automatic calibration, one-click printing, and a consistently perfect first layer, the Original Prusa XL takes care of all those tedious and time-consuming tasks for you. You no longer need to worry about setting the distance between the nozzle and the print bed, or calculating whether you might run out of filament halfway through a print. The XL is easy to operate and maintain, and comes with a detailed manual guiding you through every aspect of multimaterial 3D printing.

Perfect First Layer Out of the Box
Say goodbye to the hassle of manually adjusting the nozzle-to-bed distance—no software tweaks, no screws. The XL automatically produces a perfect first layer every time, anywhere across its heated bed. It doesn’t matter what type of print surface you use—the Loadcell sensor precisely measures the distance and is unaffected by reflective or textured surfaces. Unlike optical sensors, this system provides unmatched accuracy on any type of print bed.

Handles Any Type of Filament
No matter if your project requires PLA, PETG, ASA, or even carbon fiber–filled filaments, the XL handles them all with ease! This includes flexible filaments as well. Thanks to the direct-drive Nextruder, printing flexible materials is easier than ever before. Most materials don’t require an enclosed print chamber, but for those that do, the Original Prusa Enclosure is available.

Wi-Fi and Prusa Connect
The Original Prusa XL offers both wired and wireless connectivity. You can control it from anywhere using our secure and encrypted Prusa Connect system. Simply drag and drop your G-code file into the browser window, and within seconds of uploading, you can start printing.
Prusa Connect provides a wide range of features, including:
-
Scheduling print jobs
-
Remote monitoring of the print process via webcam
-
Easy management of multiple printers
It makes managing your prints seamless, whether you’re next to the printer or halfway across the office.

Color Touchscreen LCD
Choose your preferred way to control the Original Prusa XL! You can use the physical knob for tactile feedback or the highly popular touchscreen panel.
The color LCD offers:
-
Easy-to-navigate menus
-
Clear, step-by-step instructions
-
G-code previews
-
QR code support
-
Cancel Object functionality
-
Many other useful enhancements
Using the XL has never been this intuitive and enjoyable!

Unique Segmented Heated Bed
The XL features a modular segmented heated bed, controlled by its own dedicated motherboard, which takes the reliability and print quality of the XL to the next level.
The bed consists of 16 individually controlled tiles, designed to compensate for thermal deformation that often occurs with printers using a single large heated bed.
Paired with our proven double-sided print sheets, you always get the best surface for your materials.
Additionally, unused tiles can be switched off, saving energy without compromising performance.

Power Loss Recovery
Large prints often take several hours, even with Input Shaper technology. But power outages are no problem!
The XL features a built-in power loss recovery function. In the event of a power failure, the printer saves the last extruder position and can resume printing as soon as power is restored.
This feature works even with network printing, ensuring your long prints are safe from unexpected interruptions.

Long-Term Support
We provide long-term support for our printers, releasing updates several years after their launch. These updates often include major new features that change the way you print.
For example:
-
The MK3S+ received firmware updates for over six years.
-
The Original Prusa MINI received a significant update four years after its release, including Input Shaper, which doubled its print speed.

Designed for Offline Use
The Original Prusa XL is designed to operate fully offline without any compromises. If you prefer not to use network services, you don’t have to. The printer can be fully controlled without internet access, and its functionality is not limited or affected in any way.
