Bambu Lab TPU 85A 1.75 mm is a highly flexible thermoplastic polyurethane with 85 Shore A hardness - the softest filament in the Bambu Lab portfolio. It offers exceptional elasticity, impact resistance and abrasion resistance, making it a suitable material for printing dampening and soft parts.

Key features

The TPU 85A material belongs to the flexible filaments with an outstanding ability to absorb impacts and vibrations. Thanks to its low Shore 85A hardness, it behaves similarly to soft rubber - it can deform significantly and return to its original shape without damage. The filament features high wear resistance even after repeated bending, which predisposes it for long-term stressed components.

The filament diameter is 1.75 mm with a tolerance of +/- 0.05 mm, and the spool weighs 1 kg on a reusable high-temperature spool. Before printing, the filament must be thoroughly dried, as TPU 85A is a strongly hygroscopic material.

This type of filament is intended for users who need a maximally soft and flexible printing material. It is used for the production of protective cases, dampening elements, soft padding, medical orthoses, protective guards, anti-stress toys (fidget toys) and other parts requiring high elasticity and shock absorption. Thanks to its high abrasion resistance, it also performs well in applications with repeated mechanical stress. Compared to classic TPU, it offers significantly higher softness and pliability.

Usage tips

• Always thoroughly dry the material before printing - TPU 85A is strongly hygroscopic.
• Use a large dry box to avoid spool deformation - standard smaller dry boxes may not accommodate the large spool.
• Keep the default print speeds, do not increase the maximum volumetric flow.
• Disable Flow Dynamics Calibration - the profile is already calibrated by the manufacturer.
• Do not remove the filament using the Unload function on the X/P series - heat the nozzle to 250 °C and pull the filament out manually.
• On the H2 series, keep the filament cutter on the right input, as TPU wears it out faster.
• For multi-material printing with PLA or PETG, use the TPU 90A variant - TPU 85A does not support full multi-material printing.
• The recommended nozzle is 0.6 mm or 0.8 mm - smaller diameters are not supported.
