Product variants
Bambu Lab PLA Basic Multi-Color is a premium gradient filament from the PLA Basic line that smoothly transitions between two shades during printing, creating an eye-catching visual transition directly on the model. The filament is supplied on a reusable spool and is fully compatible with the AMS system thanks to an integrated RFID chip.
Key features
The Multi-Color version of the PLA filament combines the easy printability of classic PLA with an attractive gradient effect. The transition length between shades is 8-10 meters, which is why the effect is particularly noticeable on larger models. The material retains the properties of the PLA Basic line - good dimensional stability, minimal shrinkage and excellent layer adhesion.
The impact toughness value in the Z direction reaches 23.8 kJ/m², which is 261 % more than standard matte PLA, making prints more resistant to breakage. The filament diameter is 1.75 mm with a tolerance of +/- 0.03 mm, and the spool weight is 1 kg. The RFID chip on the spool automatically transfers print parameters to the printer when using the AMS unit.

Who is Bambu Lab PLA Basic Multi-Color 1kg, with spool suitable for
This gradient filament is an ideal choice for decorative prints, figurines, vases, statuettes, organizers and other models where you want to achieve a striking visual effect without having to change material or use multiple extruders. It is also suitable for gift items, ornaments and design elements where a smooth color transition takes the result to another level.
Larger models with higher filament consumption will show the gradient more prominently, while smaller prints will have a more subtle color transition. The filament is compatible with all Bambu Lab printers as well as common FDM printers with a heated bed. For full RFID recognition functionality, the use of an AMS unit is recommended.
Tips for use
- Use the preset PLA Basic profile in the slicer.
- For higher surface quality, reduce print speed and acceleration of individual layers.
- Drying is not mandatory, but in high humidity we recommend 55 °C for 8 hours in a dryer or 75 °C for 12 hours on the printer's heated bed.
- Store in a sealed package with a moisture absorber (< 20 % RH).
- Recommended print plates: Cool Plate SuperTack, Smooth PEI Plate, Textured PEI Plate.
- When printing on PEI plates, use Bambu Liquid Glue; avoid classic solid glue sticks.
- For smoother color transitions, choose models with higher filament consumption.
- The RFID chip automatically sets print parameters when using the AMS system.
