Bambu Lab PC FR is a high-performance polycarbonate filament with flame-retardant properties meeting the UL 94-2023 V-0 standard. It combines fire resistance with mechanical properties, thermal stability and impact toughness at the level of engineering materials. It is intended for demanding technical and industrial applications.

Key features

PC FR (Polycarbonate Flame Retardant) is a technical filament designed for applications requiring a combination of strength, thermal resistance and self-extinguishing properties. It meets the UL 94-2023 V-0 standard, which is the highest flammability classification for 3D printing materials - burning stops within 10 seconds on a vertically positioned specimen. Stiffness and strength are comparable to PAHT-CF materials, making it suitable for structural parts as well as protective enclosures. The spool is equipped with an RFID chip for automatic print parameter configuration in conjunction with the AMS system.

  • Self-extinguishing properties - UL 94 V-0 classification
  • High tensile strength - 60 ± 4 MPa
  • Thermal resistance - Vicat 114 °C, HDT 113 °C
  • High impact toughness - 55 ± 2.1 kJ/m²
  • Stiffness comparable to PAHT-CF - flexural modulus 1890 ± 70 MPa
  • RFID chip for automatic identification in AMS
  • High-temperature reusable spool

Who is Bambu Lab Filament PC FR 1.75 1kg suitable for

PC FR filament is intended for users who need a technical material with properties exceeding standard PLA or PETG. It is used in professional and industrial applications - production of electrical enclosures, automotive parts, protective housings for electronics and structural components of machines and equipment where fire resistance is required. Thanks to the combination of high thermal resistance and mechanical strength, it is suitable for functional prototypes as well as end-use products exposed to elevated temperatures. If you are looking for an alternative for common technical parts without the requirement for self-extinguishing properties, consider ABS or ASA. More information about polycarbonates can be found in the polycarbonate category.

Tips for use

  • Before printing, thoroughly dry the filament - 80 °C for 8 hours in a hot air oven, or 90-100 °C for 12 hours on the X1 heated bed.
  • During printing, keep the filament in a dry environment with desiccant, ideally in an airtight box with humidity below 20 % RH.
  • Printing PC FR requires a hotend capable of operating at 260-280 °C - we recommend steel or hardened nozzles.
  • Print in an enclosed chamber to minimize part deformation (warping) caused by rapid cooling.
  • Apply PVP glue (e.g. Bambu Liquid Glue) to the Smooth PEI or Textured PEI build plate for reliable adhesion and easy part removal.
  • We do not recommend using Cool Plate or SuperTack build plates.
  • After printing is finished, immediately store the remaining filament back in an airtight package with desiccant.
  • Polycarbonate releases fumes during printing - ensure ventilation or use air filtration.
