Filament Spectrum HIPS-X
High impact resistance
Spectrum HIPS-X is one of the support consumables intended for additive manufacturing in FDM/FFF technology. It usually serves a support role for components made of ABS, where after the manufacturing process is completed, the supports made of HIPS-X dissolve in a concentrated solution of citric acid (D-Limonene).
In addition, Spectrum HIPS-X can be used as a base material for the production of elements with reduced shrinkage during processing. It is a material with high impact resistance and pressure resistance. Moreover, it allows obtaining matte surfaces with reduced layer visibility. Like ABS – HIPS-X can be mechanically processed by sanding, turning, and milling.
Key features:
- improved aesthetics of printed elements due to the matte surface of the print
- high impact resistance
- thermal resistance - HDT B 88°C
- Vicat softening point - 96°C (ISO 306/A120)
- lightweight
- ideal for large prints
- lower shrinkage rate than classic ABS
- fully soluble in D-limonene
- possibility of mechanical processing (drilling, turning, milling, or sanding)
- matte surface
Applications:
- support material for ABS
- industrial applications requiring impact-resistant components or components with partial energy absorption
- concept model prototyping
- packaging
Spectrum HIPS-X is a material that is essentially used as a support material but is also applicable in industrial applications where elements require impact resistance and partial energy absorption. The low hardness of HIPS-X allows the use of this material in art, or more precisely in sculpture.
