ASA (acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate) is a modern technical material considered an improved alternative to ABS. It features excellent resistance to UV radiation, weather conditions, temperature and chemicals, making it an ideal choice for outdoor applications. Spectrum ASA filament has a reduced tendency to warp compared to classic ABS, provides a matte surface and is easy to post-process (sanding, gluing, painting). Printing tips
- Print in an enclosed chamber to minimize the risk of warping and layer delamination.
- For ideal bed adhesion, use a glue stick, ABS juice or a PEI sheet.
- Turn off the part cooling fan or set it to a minimum to prevent layer separation.
- Dry the material before printing - ASA is slightly hygroscopic and moisture degrades surface quality.
- Ensure adequate ventilation of the workspace, as printing ASA releases mild fumes.
- For surface finishing, parts can be sanded, painted or smoothed with acetone vapor.
