Polymaker PolyTerra Gradient PLA is a special variant of the popular matte PLA filament with a smooth color transition along the length of the spool. During printing, the shades gradually change, giving a single model a unique visual effect without the need to swap materials or use a multi-material system. Diameter 1.75 mm, 1 kg spool.

Key features

PolyTerra Gradient PLA is based on the proven PLA line from Polymaker with a matte surface that hides print layers and gives models a professional appearance. The filament contains bio-additives and is manufactured with a reduced environmental footprint in mind (carbon-neutral production according to the manufacturer). The gradient variant has a predefined color gradient along the length of the spool, so you get a smooth transition on a single model without any manual intervention. The material prints as easily as classic PLA, has a low tendency to warp and good interlayer adhesion.

The filament is wound on a cardboard spool, which makes packaging recycling easier. The manufacturer states diameter accuracy of +/- 0.03 mm, ensuring stable flow and high-quality print surface.

Who is Polymaker PolyTerra Gradient PLA 1.75 mm, 1 kg suitable for

The filament is intended for creators who want to achieve an eye-catching color transition on a model without using AMS or MMU systems. It is suitable for decorative prints, figurines, vases, gift items, cosplay accessories, low-poly models, planetary models, small jewelry or presentation items. The matte surface stands out beautifully on organic shapes, where the color transition emphasizes the geometry of the model. It is not intended for functional parts under high mechanical load or for use at higher temperatures - in that case choose PETG, ABS or ASA instead.

Printing tips

  • For maximum gradient effect, print vertically oriented models - the transition will then show along the height of the model.
  • Longer models or more pieces on the build plate will affect the speed of the color transition - shorter models mean a more pronounced shade change.
  • We recommend calibrating the flow to 95 - 100 % so that the matte surface stands out without over-extrusion.
  • Use full print cooling fan (100 %) for sharp details and clean overhangs.
  • Store the filament in a dry place with silica gel; if it absorbs moisture, dry it at 45 °C for 6 hours.
  • For best results use a 0.4 mm nozzle; larger nozzles (0.6 mm) will speed up the color transition on the model.
  • The cardboard spool is recyclable - after printing it can be disposed of together with paper.
  • The PolyTerra line is more sensitive to abrasion due to its matte structure; we recommend a hardened nozzle for long-term use.
