The Original Prusa XL is the flagship large-format 3D printer from Prusa Research with a 360×360×360 mm build volume, a unique toolchanger for up to 5 tool heads and a segmented heatbed made of 16 independently controlled tiles. This variant ships fully assembled with one tool head and is ready for immediate deployment - from prototyping to production printing of technical parts. Designed and manufactured in the EU.
Large-format 360×360×360 mm build volume

The 360×360×360 mm build volume moves the Original Prusa XL into a category where common desktop printers end. You can print large functional parts, prototype enclosures, long profiles or multiple smaller models at once in a single batch. The CoreXY-inspired construction with a rigid frame maintains accuracy across the entire bed area and allows working with tolerances around 0.2 mm - enough to rely on parts fitting together on the first try.
Toolchanger expandable up to 5 heads

The heart of the XL is a lightning-fast tool changer. Currently one tool head, which can be gradually expanded up to five in the future. Each head has its own nozzle and filament ready to print, so switching materials or colors eliminates lengthy retract and purge cycles. The result: multi-material printing faster and with minimal to zero waste - no massive purge towers, no filament stringing around the printer.
Nextruder and a perfect first layer

The direct-drive Nextruder with a planetary gearbox easily handles both tough technical materials and flexible TPU filaments. The Loadcell sensor in the nozzle measures pressure directly on the bed surface, so the first layer lands perfectly every time - regardless of the build plate type or reflective and textured surfaces. No manual z-offset tuning, no screws.
Segmented heatbed - 16 tiles

The modular print bed consists of 16 independently controlled heating tiles with their own control board. This eliminates the thermal deformation common in printers with a single large bed and ensures even temperature distribution. Unused tiles automatically switch off - the printer thus saves energy when printing smaller parts.
Input Shaper, Pressure Advance and high-speed printing

Native implementation of Input Shaper and Pressure Advance significantly increases print speeds without impacting surface quality. The XL prints considerably faster than the previous generation while remaining quiet thanks to Phase Stepping technology, which adjusts the motor control signal based on their real characteristics. For maximum silence, just enable Stealth Mode.
Compatibility with technical materials

The XL handles the full range of 1.75 mm filaments without any vendor lock-in - from common PLA and PETG, through ASA and ABS, up to nylon, polycarbonate or carbon fiber-filled materials. The Nextruder also handles flex materials and, if an enclosed print chamber is needed, the original Enclosure can be purchased.
Spool Join - printing without interruption

The Spool Join feature automatically switches to the next spool as soon as the current one runs out. Ideal for using up filament leftovers or for massive projects - with five 2 kg spools and Spool Join, you can print a 10 kg model without a single operator intervention.
Wi-Fi, Ethernet and Prusa Connect
The XL offers both wired and wireless connectivity and the encrypted Prusa Connect platform for remote management - just drag and drop a G-code file into your browser and start printing within seconds. Job scheduling, progress tracking via webcam and the Cancel Object function are all available. A color touchscreen complements the classic physical knob, so you can choose the control method that suits you. And if you don't want to use the network, the printer is fully functional offline as well.
Power loss recovery and long-term support
In case of a power outage, the XL saves its position and resumes printing after power is restored - this also works with network prints. Moreover, Prusa Research supports its printers for many years after their market launch; the XL has already received Input Shaper, Phase Stepping, Cancel Object, filament jam detection and many other firmware and hardware upgrades.
