Thanks to the carbon fibers, it is also suitable for parts exposed to mechanical stress, where standard PLA or PETG would not be sufficient. Tips for use
- Use a hardened nozzle (steel or ruby) - carbon fibers quickly wear out a standard brass nozzle.
- Dry the filament before printing - ASA is hygroscopic and moisture causes bubbles and poor interlayer adhesion.
- Print in an enclosed chamber and eliminate drafts to prevent cracking and corner lifting.
- Apply suitable adhesive to the print bed or use a PEI sheet for better first layer adhesion.
- Keep part cooling to a minimum, ideally off or up to 20 %.
- Reduce print speed and increase flow, composite materials require stable extrusion.
- Store the filament in a dry place, ideally in a vacuum bag with silica gel.
