Spectrum ASA Electrically Conductive is an advanced technical filament with carbon nanotubes (CNT) added, combining electrical conductivity with excellent resistance to UV radiation and weathering. Its surface resistance of around 40 Ω·m makes it an ideal material for functional parts, ESD applications and outdoor use.

Electrically conductive ASA with carbon nanotubes

The material is based on the durable polymer ASA, enriched with carbon nanotubes (CNT). These form a conductive network within the matrix and provide a very low surface resistance of around 40 Ω·m. The filament is therefore suitable for applications where current needs to be conducted efficiently or static charge dissipated.

Resistance to UV radiation and weathering

Unlike standard PLA or PETG, ASA is designed specifically for outdoor use. It does not yellow in the sun, withstands rain and temperature fluctuations, and retains its mechanical properties over the long term. It is therefore suitable for parts permanently installed outside the interior.

High rigidity and dimensional stability

The material offers high rigidity, good dimensional stability and mechanical strength. It is therefore predestined for the production of technical components that must reliably function even in demanding conditions - sensor holders, electronics housings, functional prototypes or structural parts.

Verified conductivity at different temperatures

The manufacturer performed volume resistance measurements on a 3D printed sample of 4 × 4 × 120 mm with 100% infill at a voltage of 10 V and three extrusion temperatures:

  • 270 °C: 51 Ω·m
  • 280 °C: 45 Ω·m
  • 290 °C: 41 Ω·m

A higher extrusion temperature improves the dispersion of carbon nanotubes within the model structure and reduces the volume resistance. If you need maximum conductivity, print at 290 °C - provided your printer's hotend can handle it.

Matte surface without visible layers

Prints feature an elegant matte surface that naturally hides layer lines. No additional surface finishing is required - the part looks professional straight from the printer.

Printing recommendations

The material does not require a heated chamber, however for larger models an enclosed space improves dimensional stability and reduces the risk of warping. Due to the presence of carbon nanotubes, the filament is slightly abrasive - we recommend using a hardened steel or ruby nozzle. A standard brass nozzle would wear out quickly.

Typical applications

The filament is suitable for ESD-safe parts, electronics housings, antistatic components, wire holders, functional prototypes with electrical requirements and technical parts for outdoor environments. The combination of conductivity and UV resistance is quite unique among materials for FDM printing.
