Bambu Lab PLA Sparkle is an aesthetic PLA filament with metallic particles that create an eye-catching shimmering surface on prints. It combines the easy printability of classic PLA with a decorative metallic look and higher impact toughness.
Key features
The material is based on standard PLA, into which metallic particles are added to create the characteristic shimmering effect. The filament retains easy printability and offers relatively high impact toughness compared to common PLA. It is supplied on a basic reusable spool and equipped with an RFID chip, thanks to which Bambu Lab printers with AMS automatically load all print parameters. The filament diameter is 1.75 mm with a tolerance of +/- 0.03 mm.
The main mechanical properties include a tensile strength of 33 MPa, flexural modulus of 2310 MPa, flexural strength of 63 MPa and impact toughness of 66.5 kJ/m². The material density is 1.26 g/cm³, Vicat softening temperature 57 °C and melting temperature 156 °C.

Who is Bambu Lab PLA Sparkle with spool, 1kg suitable for
The filament is intended for users who want to give their prints an eye-catching shimmering surface without the need for additional finishing. It is suitable for decorative models, figurines, collectibles, jewellery, gifts and promotional items, Christmas ornaments, cosplay accessories and design elements. Thanks to its relatively high impact toughness, it can also handle mechanically more demanding parts where pure decorative PLA could be too brittle. The material is fully compatible with the Bambu Lab AMS system and works with X1, P1 and A1 series printers.
Tips for use
- Do not use a 0.2 mm nozzle - metallic particles may cause clogging.
- A 0.4 mm or larger nozzle is recommended, ideally made of hardened steel due to the abrasive nature of the material.
- For printing, prefer the Cool Plate SuperTack, smooth or textured PEI plate.
- If the filament absorbs moisture, dry it before printing at 55 °C for 8 hours.
- After opening, store in a sealed package with desiccant and keep ambient humidity below 20 % RH.
- For better first layer adhesion, you can use Bambu Liquid Glue; classic glue stick is not recommended.
- A wall thickness from 1.2 mm ensures sufficient strength and highlights the shimmering effect on the surface.
- The shimmer stands out most on flat and slightly curved surfaces with a lower layer height (0.12 - 0.16 mm).
- When printing with AMS, parameters are loaded automatically thanks to the RFID chip on the spool.
