Bambu Lab PLA Metal is a special PLA filament with a metallic surface effect that mimics the look and structure of machined metal. The filament does not contain real metal particles, which allows it to retain the easy printability of classic PLA, while prints gain a professional, sophisticated metallic appearance without the need for any post-processing.
Key features
PLA Metal stands out with its unique surface texture resembling machined metal and a distinctive metallic sheen. The material retains the complete properties of standard PLA - easy printing, low thermal expansion and good dimensional stability. Thanks to the absence of real metal fillers, it does not stress the nozzle with abrasion, so a wear-resistant nozzle is not required. The filament has relatively high impact toughness and is supplied on a classic reusable spool with an RFID chip for automatic configuration in AMS systems.

PLA Metal is intended for makers, designers and modellers who want to give their prints a premium metallic appearance without the need for post-production. It is ideal for decorative items, statuettes, busts, replicas of historical artifacts, cosplay accessories, souvenirs, gaming figurines, decorative electronics covers or art projects. Thanks to the RFID chip, all print parameters are automatically loaded via AMS - just insert the filament and print. Usage tips
- Before printing, dry the material at 55 °C for 8 hours if it has absorbed moisture.
- Store airtight with desiccant at humidity below 20 % RH.
- Recommended build plates: Cool Plate SuperTack, Smooth PEI Plate, Textured PEI Plate.
- For better adhesion, use Bambu Liquid Glue instead of classic glue sticks.
- The metallic effect stands out best at lower print speeds and a higher infill percentage of the top layers.
- The material does not need to be printed with a wear-resistant nozzle - it contains no metal fillers.
- For full use of RFID and automatic configuration, use a Bambu Lab printer with AMS.
