Bambu Lab PLA Galaxy is a premium PLA filament with glass microsphere additives that create a unique sparkling visual effect and a smooth glossy surface. It combines the easy printing of classic PLA with the aesthetics of a special-effect material for decorative prints.
Key features
PLA Galaxy is based on the proven PLA Basic formula, to which glass microspheres have been added. They create dynamic light reflections and a soft metallic sparkle on the print surface that changes with the viewing angle. The resulting surface is smooth, glossy and gives a premium impression without the need for additional finishing.
The material retains excellent printability, dimensional stability and the low tendency to warping typical of PLA. The filament is supplied with an RFID tag containing stored print parameters - when inserted into the Bambu Lab AMS system, the settings are loaded automatically. The filament diameter is 1.75 mm with a tolerance of +/- 0.03 mm.
Due to the abrasive content of the glass microspheres, the use of a hardened steel nozzle with a diameter of 0.4 / 0.6 / 0.8 mm is recommended. A 0.2 mm nozzle is not suitable for this material.

PLA Galaxy is an ideal choice for creators looking for a decorative material with an eye-catching appearance while not compromising on easy printability. It is suitable for figurines, models, cosplay accessories, gift items, vases, statuettes, small decorations, jewelry and design prototypes.
Thanks to its low printing temperature and minimal warping, it is also suitable for beginners. The glass microspheres give finished prints a professional visual appearance without the need for post-processing, sanding or painting.
The mechanical properties correspond to standard PLA - for functional parts exposed to higher temperatures or mechanical stress, we recommend considering PETG, ABS or ASA.
Usage tips
- Before printing, dry the material at 55 °C for 8 hours, especially if it has been exposed to ambient air for a longer period.
- Use a hardened steel nozzle - glass microspheres cause increased wear of brass nozzles.
- Recommended build plate: Cool Plate SuperTack, Smooth PEI Plate or Textured PEI Plate.
- For better adhesion to the build plate, use Bambu Liquid Glue or a glue stick.
- After printing, store the filament in a sealed bag with desiccant (humidity below 20 % RH).
- The filament is fully compatible with the Bambu Lab AMS system - print parameters are loaded via RFID.
- To bring out the sparkling effect to the maximum, choose smoother surfaces and higher print quality (lower layer height).
- A 0.2 mm nozzle is not recommended for PLA Galaxy due to the risk of clogging by glass microspheres.
