The extrusion unit is equipped with two hardened steel gears that feed the filament into the hot end device. The hardened steel gears provide greater extrusion force, prevent slippage and increase abrasion resistance. These gears allow the extrusion unit to process hard technical fibers such as nylon with carbon and glass fibers.

The extrusion unit is also equipped with a filament cutter for filament unloading or switching, and an extruder motor that supplies the necessary power for the extrusion process.
