Overview
The AMS First Stage Feeder is specially designed to support the AMS for multi-color and multi-material printing.
Each AMS has 4 first-stage feeders, and each one has its own motor and gears that actively push the filament forward or retract it back onto the spool.
The first-stage feeder includes a filament detection sensor. When filament is inserted, the feeder automatically pulls it in. When filament needs to be retracted, the first-stage feeder drives the AMS drive hub to rotate the spool and wind the filament back.
To optimize product performance, we have upgraded the AMS first-stage feeder PCB. This update affects AMS units using the earliest motherboard version. Before purchasing a first-stage feeder or feeding funnel, please confirm your AMS motherboard version on the Bambu Lab Wiki.
