The Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro Feeder Unit is a replacement feeder module designed for the AMS 2 Pro system. Each AMS 2 Pro contains four separate feeders with their own motor and gearbox, which actively push filament into the printer or wind it back onto the spool. Ceramically reinforced bushings at the inlet protect the module from wear even during long-term operation with abrasive materials.

Replacement feeder module for AMS 2 Pro

The Feeder Unit is a key component of the AMS 2 Pro system, which enables multi-color and multi-material printing on Bambu Lab printers. The module is intended as a replacement part in case of wear or failure, or as a backup piece for facilities with higher workloads. Compatibility is strictly limited to the AMS 2 Pro.

Ceramically reinforced bushings against wear

Ceramically reinforced bushings are pressed into the inlet opening of each feeder, resisting filament friction even after thousands of hours of operation. This element is critical especially for abrasive materials such as carbon fiber composites, PA-CF or glass fibers, where a standard plastic inlet quickly wears a groove.

Active feeding and rewinding

Each feeder has its own stepper motor and gear wheels. It not only actively pushes filament through the Bowden tube toward the print head, but during material changes it can also rewind the filament and, via the active shaft of the AMS 2 Pro, rotate the spool so that the material is stored back properly. This eliminates tangled loops that occur with passive systems.

Integrated filament sensor

The module has a built-in sensor that detects the presence of filament. After inserting the strand, the feeder automatically starts up and pulls the filament inside - there is no need to manually start the load process. When the spool runs out or the material breaks, the printer receives the information and reacts by pausing the print.

Support for a wide range of materials

The Feeder Unit reliably feeds both standard and technical materials. It easily handles PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA and harder composites such as nylon or polycarbonate. Flexible materials of TPU above 95A are possible, however for very soft flexible filaments we recommend a direct extruder.

Service part with easy replacement

The module is designed so that the user can replace it themselves without a service intervention. The package includes BT2-8 mounting screws, and the replacement procedure is described in the official Bambu Lab Wiki. We recommend keeping at least one spare feeder in the drawer as a precaution, especially during intensive multi-material printing.
