What is Z wobble?

Z wobble is a wavy pattern on the side walls of a 3D print - appearing as regular vertical lines. Caused by a crooked Z axis (bent rod, motor wobble).

Causes

  • Bent Z-rod
  • Misaligned motor
  • Play in bearings

Solution

Replace with higher quality Z-rod or install oldham coupling (flexible coupler).
