What is wipe in 3D printing?

Wipe is the wiping of the nozzle before or after printing a segment. The nozzle passes over the model surface and leaves excess filament there. Prevents stringing.

Variants

  • Wipe before travel - wipe before movement
  • Wipe while retracting - retract while wiping
  • Coasting - stop extrusion before segment end

Settings

In OrcaSlicer and Bambu Studio: Wipe distance 1-3 mm.
