What is layer height?

Layer height is the height of one printing layer in millimeters. Lower = finer details but slower print. Typically 0.1-0.3 mm for a 0.4 mm nozzle.

What to choose

  • 0.08 mm - maximum detail, very slow
  • 0.12 mm - detail, good speed
  • 0.16-0.20 mm - standard
  • 0.24 mm - large parts, speed
  • 0.28-0.32 mm - fast print, less detail

Rule

Max. layer height = 75-80 % of nozzle diameter. For 0.4 mm nozzle max 0.32 mm, for 0.6 mm up to 0.48 mm. Adaptive layers auto-adjust to model detail.
