What is IPA in 3D printing?

IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) is a cleaner for 3D printing. Used for cleaning build plates and washing SLA prints. 90%+ concentration required.

FDM use

Wipe the build plate before each print. Removes fingerprints (grease) and old residues. 99% IPA best, 70% insufficient (slower evaporation).

SLA use

After SLA print dip into IPA for 5-10 minutes to wash off resin residues. Then UV cure. Get an ultrasonic cleaner for perfect results.

Safety

Flammable - store away from heat. Nitrile gloves (not latex). Well-ventilated area.
