What is a HEPA filter in a 3D printer?

A HEPA filter traps microparticles (0.3 µm and larger) released by 3D printing. Combined with activated carbon it cleans air from toxic fumes of ABS, ASA, UV resins.

Why filter

ABS, ASA and resins release ultra-fine particles (UFP) and VOC. Long-term inhalation is a health risk. PLA is relatively safe but HEPA doesn't hurt.

Integrated filters

Bambu Lab X1 Carbon, H2D, Prusa XL have built-in HEPA + activated carbon.
