What are carbon composite filaments?

Carbon composites are filaments with carbon fiber additive (CF, 10-20 %). They add strength and stiffness, reduce shrinkage. Common variants: PLA-CF, PETG-CF, Nylon-CF, PC-CF.

What carbon fibers do

Short carbon fibers (0.1-0.5 mm) are mixed into the plastic matrix. Result: higher strength, stiffness, dimensional stability. Filament has a matte, slightly textile surface without shine.

Watch out for the nozzle

Carbon fibers are abrasive - ordinary brass nozzles wear out quickly. Use hardened steel, ruby or sapphire. Diameter min 0.4 mm, ideally 0.6 mm.

When to choose

Drones, RC models, functional prototypes, engineering tests, cosplay weapons, professional replacement parts.
