What is a Bowden extruder?

A Bowden extruder is a type of extruder where the motor is outside the print head. Filament travels through a PTFE tube (Bowden tube) to the hotend. Advantage: lighter head, higher speed.

  • Light head - faster movements
  • Lower vibrations
  • Compact head

Disadvantages

  • Longer retraction
  • Worse with flexible filaments (TPU)
