What is AMS in Bambu Lab printers?
AMS (Automatic Material System) is an accessory for Bambu Lab printers for automatic filament switching. 4 spools in one AMS, up to 16 colors with 4 AMS.
How AMS works
AMS has 4 spool slots with automatic diameter and humidity sensors. For multicolor printing the printer automatically switches filaments - pulls out, cuts, loads next.
Which printers
- P1 / X1 series - AMS or AMS Lite
- A1 series - AMS Lite (no box, just roller)
- H2D - AMS 2 Pro (second generation)
Limitations
AMS can't handle flexible filaments (TPU) - bowden path is too long. Multimaterial generates waste (purge tower) - 10-30 g per switch.
