What is acetone smoothing?
Acetone smoothing = chemical smoothing of ABS prints with acetone vapor. Print looks like injection-molded plastic - smooth, glossy. Only for ABS/ASA.
Procedure
- Put a little acetone in a closed jar
- Place model on metal grid above acetone
- Acetone vapor 30 min - 2 hours
Safety
Acetone is flammable and irritating. Work outdoors or in well-ventilated area.
Works only for
ABS, ASA, HIPS. PLA and PETG - acetone doesn't dissolve them.
